Carpe Diem Haiku – Shuntoo (Spring lantern)

Carpe Diem Prompt today is Shuntoo (Spring lantern), and as usual I have probably misunderstood the prompt, but I love Japanese woodblock prints. And this one was so nice.

whispering voices
secrets under spring lanterns
suitor waits
~~
spring lantern
deliberate movements
preparing tea
~~
her silk kimono
whispering promises
in lantern’s glow

  1. Ah…you have captured the most romantic images of flickering lights and whisperings of all kinds and the ritual of love! You are so good at romance haiku!

  2. aloha Brudberg – “secrets under a spring lantern” – that brings up a great image, as does “deliberate movements” with tea. those create very strong images (imo). i like that. way cool. aloha.

  3. Secrets under spring lanterns… loved that! And her silk kimono
whispering promises… is simply awesome. Bjorn, I think there is a typo in the word “promises” in your last haiku (these typos somehow creep in; it happens to me quite often) Overall, beautiful set of haiku and a great take on the prompt!
