Carpe Diem Prompt today is Shuntoo (Spring lantern), and as usual I have probably misunderstood the prompt, but I love Japanese woodblock prints. And this one was so nice.

Three seated ladies with lanterns, Kitagawa Utamaro
whispering voices
secrets under spring lanterns
suitor waits
~~
spring lantern
deliberate movements
preparing tea
~~

The third one is my favorite 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Love the sounds and images that come from ‘her silk kimono whispering prompises’
Thank you 🙂
wow those whispered promises.. exquisite
Yes… those one …
I really like the progression you’ve shown here. The informality of the women together, to the proper form of tea, and on to the small nuances of romance.
Oh, I could se myself as the suitor waitning somewhere.
this is a great set, Bjorn! loved them all!
Thank you 🙂
These are superb Bjorn. My offering today might almost follow on form these…humbly 🙂
Indeed it did
Tea prepared by lantern light must be the best of all.
Tiny Lanterns
Or what comes after tea 🙂
ah, the nuances of courting….
🙂
The last one is the first one! Brillant!
Thank you 🙂
Adore the third one but all three are lovely!
Thank you Maggie.
Ah…you have captured the most romantic images of flickering lights and whisperings of all kinds and the ritual of love! You are so good at romance haiku!
Oh thank you.. yes I saw those whispering ladies, and a painter/poet standing in shadows looking.
then prompt is what you make of it, my friend
and you made something wonderful, indeed
Cheers!

Thank you my friend.
aloha Brudberg – “secrets under a spring lantern” – that brings up a great image, as does “deliberate movements” with tea. those create very strong images (imo). i like that. way cool. aloha.
Thank you.. It helps so much to work with pictures I think.. and I saw this in this in the picture.. and maybe the painter’s POV…
Secrets under spring lanterns… loved that! And her silk kimono
whispering promises… is simply awesome. Bjorn, I think there is a typo in the word “promises” in your last haiku (these typos somehow creep in; it happens to me quite often) Overall, beautiful set of haiku and a great take on the prompt!
Ah thank you… and spelling mistakes I make all the time…
Even if it is through any misunderstanding; beautiful poetry has emerged, unscathed!!!
