Carpe Diem Haiku – First spring gust (Haru Ichiban)

Today’s Carpe Diem prompt is the kigo first ring gust (haru Ichiban). I got to think about children’s books again and what’s better than “Olle’s ski trip”, where the nemesis of skiing is the old Mrs Thaw, who make skiing impossible, but with the first spring storm, she clears the way for Princess Spring,

gusty winds
clear away the snow
spring will come

in footsteps of the thaw

muddy shoes
in the first gust of spring
take them off inside

  1. We have gusts in the UK right now – mostly from the east so not warm. But the sun is out today for the first time in a while so we can imagine spring is around the corner. I really relate to those muddy shoes.

  2. Awesome series Bjorn. I like how you were inspired by a children’s book. Spring is coming. Here in The Netherlands the temperature is rising to 15 degrees Celsius today and I have been sitting in the sun already.
