Carpe Diem prompt today is staff or walking stick. The image that come before me is an old man, and what better to use is this self portrait by Hokusai, the artist that made the famous woodblock print of the tsunami with mount Fuji in the background.

I enjoyed these!
They got better and better Bjorn – te 2nd and 3rd were meditive moments…well-worth reading, and had such a real sense of haiku. Some haiku are very good without that ‘real sense’, but with it…then bliss. Your visual always works perfectly my Northern comrade. I don’t think bright photographs I see here and there work so well. In fact, they may take away from the haiku a little..
“traveling on wings of memory standing still”
This is fabulous.
Each of these is a little gem.
Each so different.
Yet Each fits the picture.
Brilliant!

How wonderful to reach old age and be able to travel on wings of memory standing still! Love those woodcuts.
Yes. I like these very much – and thank you for linking them into Haiku Friday.
Ah some of my fellow Carpe Diem bloggers might have linked it. But thank you for your kind words.
your haiku never disappoints… and i very much enjoy the photos every day 🙂
Excellent!
A thousand miles of memory – wonderful!
I like the grouping.
Beautiful images invoked here! But I especially love the second line of the second haiku!
Very nice haiku set Bjorn … I have read already great haiku on Staff/Walking Stick and I am surprised again by your take on the prompt. And I thought this would be a difficult prompt … 🙂
This one is lovely, so profound, so touching. Word play is clever : ‘traveling
on wings of memory
standing still’
Every set made me exclaim ‘wow!’
Walking stick as support … lovely !!!
Wisdom in its best! I like the 2nd one the most – movement in stillness…brilliant.
loved the last…a journey begins with a thousand steps!
What an interesting blog. I’ll find some time to take a closer look… I love the idea of Carpe Diem. Words to live by.
Check out http://chevrefeuillescarpediem.blogspot.se where the prompt is given daily. We are a small community who does haiku daily since October.
