Today the prompt on Carpe Diem is this haiku by Buson
the owner of the field
goes to see how his scarecrow is
and comes back
So venturing out to find a nice woodblock print I found this little masterpiece by Bairei Kono.
scarecrow by the pond
difficult to tell apart
from his owner
~~
lonely old scarecrow
winter crow builds nest in hat
field unguarded
~~
harmless scarecrow
ridiculed by starling flock
unloaded bow

The words add life to the picture…lovely. Thank You 🙂
Thank you, it was inspiring to write
Good series Bjorn. Your words bring the woodblock to life. Thank you for your daily effort to write haiku for Carpe diem.
Thank you
I don’t know why I cannot see the image, but your three haiku are very well crafted.
My favorite line is winter crow builds nest in hat and my favorite haiku is the third.
🙂
Well, after posting my previous comment, I could see the little masterpiece by Bairei Kono, wonderful in its simplicity indeed; now I can understand your line unloaded bow.
🙂
Thank you, I understand it was difficult to understand without the pic
My favorite so far…
Thanks Ted. It was one of the more inspiring to make
i’m a big fan of scarecrows. as always your haiku are wonderful and i just love the painting!
Thank you John. I hope a Japanese scarecrow at your pond would be a nice addition
Visual is very well found, and the first haiku is an epic – I can instantly imagine how tough the farmer’s life has been, up to the point where he stands by the pond, tired, next to his scarecrow. 2nd clever, 3rd very special.
Thank you, my favorite is the first one.
The middle one! Most awesome of the three. All extremely good, as always.
Thank you Lolly
Björn – these are really good.
Cheers!

Masquerading Gent
Ah thank you. My own favorite is the first one. I will read all entries later. 🙂
I enjoyed your post on the scarecrow…
a spring and summer ritual for me to look for them in the fields. Thank you
I have rarely seen a scarecrow in the fields. It would be such a joy to see them.
A ridiculed scarecrow must certainly be a sorrowful scarecrow. 😦
Scarecrow
cool print….I found myself feeling sorry for this scarecrow….his life is sad, espec. since he looks like his master!
Loved all the subtle feeling that have been captured by your lines! Beautiful!
