By sea I rest in muted bliss
with whisper of the waves is this
my sunscape?
My skin caressed is kissed and pleased
to be tempted, tickled teased
by sunbeams
I dress with leaves my fragrant bed
to sleep while musing to what’s said
with sunshine
When evening comes awake I’m stunned
skyward gazing praised to scream and
be sunwild
At night in pain I swirl around
with skin aflame I curse and sound
in sunburn

Today Laura hosts dVerse with a form where we use compound words with the same stem. Since compound words are closely related to kennings I opted to create some new compound words that was not from any dictionary.

Your nude on beach made me smile, Björn. You cracked the prompt with this one! These lines stood out for me:
‘My skin caressed is kissed and pleasedto be tempted, tickled teasedby sunbeams’.
And such a sore ending!
Ha… I looked at the poem I wrote for the first time… and it was so much better, but this is what i could muster tonight.
I admit, I struggled with a poem for tonight’s prompt.
“I dress with leaves my fragrant bed” – love it!
your imagery is impressive Bjorn under that sun
That line I was happy with too
I love sunwild!!
kennings are really cool.
I only learnt about kennings a few days ago. Love this structure
ah ha! be careful not to fall asleep in the sun! ouch!
Yes indeed.
Is it a true tale?
awww, sunburn, no fun
much love
Nope—and it can get back to bite you for real when you age.
I like the awkward alliteration in the second stanza. It shouldn’t work but I like it. 👏
Alliteration always always work for me.
The story of many a nudist, I think! It made me laugh 🙂
Ha… yes… didn’t think about nudist until I found the artwork.
Very nasty, sunburn. Especially if on those body parts not usually exposed to the elements.
And yes to kennings. Wonderful stuff.
suburn on such places must be very painful indeed.
I know this feeling all too well! Great little poem. 👌
A cautionary tale, Björn, you missed out sunscreen!
Will have to cofess to nudity on a beach more than a few times ~~ no sunburns, always in the darkness of night. Really enjoyed this, Bjorn.
This is joy and fun and a little ouch…I actually struggled with this prompt.
nudity: during the sun hours is risky.
Ouch!!!!
I really enjoyed reading this. I love your bed of fragrant leaves!
Bjorn, the first time I saw your profile pic/avatar, I knew you were sunwild. Wonderful poem for those who love the water.
Ooh, I feel your pain, Björn! Many sunburns when I was young and stupid 😊 I enjoyed your summer sun frolic.
