The cold moon’s tale

Underneath —
were earthworms wind
around the bones
of decomposing bodies
one skeletal finger
remains accusing
pointing skywards.

A declaring digit
giving evidence against
the assassin with
a spade
for digging graves.

But will the cold moon
ever tell the tale
on what’s hidden
underneath?

The word for today’s Quadrille is dig and it is hosted by Punam at dVerse.

I came back from our winter trek last week. In all we did 1300 km (around 800 miles) in 54 days on skis sometimes sleeping in a tent. I may have more to tell later about this small expedition.

  1. A shivering good mystery, Björn. I especially liked “declaring digit” as an exceptionally descriptive turn of phrase along with thos winding earthworms. Ugh! 🙂

    Welcome back! We missed you!

  2. Ooh! That’s a good one, Björn, with just the right amount of shivers. Love the artwork too.

Good to have you back. Hope you will share about your expedition soon.

  3. Welcome back, Björn, your winter trek looks amazing – I bet  you have some stories to tell, and you’ve been missed. I enjoyed your Gothic cold moon’s tale – funny that we both wrote about worms!  The one skeletal finger is chilling – depending on which finger it is, of course.

  4. “One skeletal fingerremains accusingpointing skywards” this is a great line! I loved the imagery of this! Also welcome back, I can’t wait to hear of your trip and what you think of treeking on snow.
