Extinction of use

Once, believing in dawn
as sunrise
kissing pinkness in the clouds
close to never and forever
is this doom
an extinction of use?

Less light when near
to winter solstice
as inkspilled we stumble
ensnared
in lugubrious gloom
sleepless and depressed.

Lost, unless we rest
and wait a while
to moonwail
to be wolves
and bless the light there is.
to find its endless use.

Extinction of useless light by Yves Tanguy

Today we have the last Open Link Night hosted by Grace at dVerse. We can link up any poem one poem we want, but there is also an optional miniprompt which is the painting by Yves Tanguy. I have tried to embed his title into the poem as well.

  1. Stunning work done, Bjorn! 💙💙 It does give a sense of lugubrious gloom when there is less light during winter season.

  2. I love the word play of inkspilled and this part Bjorn:
    to moonwail
    to be wolves
and bless the light there is.
    to find its endless use.

Love that we lights as our theme. Happy holiday break Bjorn!!!

  3. Nice work, Björn! I especially love the thought of ‘believing in dawn as sunrise kissing pinkness in the clouds’, and the lines:

    ‘Less light when near
    to winter solstice
    as inkspilled we stumble
    ensnared
    in lugubrious gloom’.
