The threadbare fabric of my being
is in dire need of darning, mending
with its seams unwinding
exposing secrets of my lacerated mind;
a being bruised with edges frayed
in need of hemming
with bindings strong and new.
So darling seamstress
bring your bobbins,
bring the needles
suited well to stitch me gently,
into scars, to a badge of honor.
Today Lillian is hosting dVerse poetics with a post aboty sewing. We are to use at least one word from a given list from sewing related words. My choice was, darning, seam, hem, binding and bobbin. I look forward to read your contribution.

How did you know? I washed some old curtains the other day which came apart not only at the seams! Tried patching them with an equally old sewing machine but gave up. Will see what I can do re turning the shreds into literature!
Ah… perfect prompt for you
You had me with the first two lines….I must admit…given the situtation in the US, my absence from writing for so long because of my shoulder surgery, I have been feeling a bit frayed at the edges as well. Have got to get back to writing daily so the words begin to flow again, and flow away from the politics that are happening here and totally changing this country.
I think I’m fraying a bit as well…
Love the action words – darning, mending, hemming and stitching, into something strong and new. And a positive result of it all, about our transformation- scars to badge of honor.
You need all those action to mend something frayed
what a wonderful request abd so nicely asked
much♡love
Thank you
What a patchwork, a cornucopia of sewing terminology you used to created this amazing poem …. honestly, I am dumbfounded.
Thank you… once you go with a metaphor… take it all the way
Perfect, multi-responsive stitchery, BR!

Bjorn, you had me at your first line. What a raw admission.
A metaphor has to be done all the way through
I love it Bjorn. I am speechless!
Thank you
A clever and absorbing poem – beautifully constructed and conveyed – Jae
Thanks a lot.
Nicely done. You set a high bar. Much in this world is in need of mending.
Indeed… we need so many tailors
Bjorn, I feel “the threadbare fabric of my being” in every fiber of my being! Your beautiful poem resonates today. The ending is perfect!!
We are constantly being challenged.
I love this humble plea for healing and how you worked in the sewing terms so seamlessly. (🤭) A metaphorical masterpiece.
The terms were so well suited for repairing.
Great use of the prompt!
Thank you
You are welcome.
I like how you turned around what sounded very dark (in true Björn fashion 😉) into something hopeful at the end.
Only from darkness you will see the light
So true!
Your words are strong, direct, yet delicate. I like how you turned healing into an act of craftsmanship. Well done!
This poem is particularly so delicate. I love it
we all need that regular mending and maintenance to function well and it is most welcome to have someone to support us become well.
Seams unwinding indeed Bjorn and, these dark days, I would imagine “darling seamstress” to be in quite high demand. Fantastic stuff.
I second Merril, a great positive ending, Björn…
I love, “scars to badges of honor”. My country is in great need of a seamstress. Hems are hanging everywhere.
