Behind taboos,
the bookcase
of the books that’s banned
you’ll find
the boomers bootlicking the boogiemen
the bigot men in boots
and the hypocrite baboons
reading secretly the books
denied to others,
but one day
it will boomerang
back to free
our books again.
Todat De hosts the Quarille at dVerse, and the word we are too used is boo. I realized that it was part of many other words, some of them that make me scared.

Doesn’t it just make ya want to read them allll? 😉
Love this, B. So many fun “boos” here!
Of course…. forbidden fruit
Nicely done, Björn! So many boos in your quadrille. I especially love the idea of ‘hypocrite baboons reading secretly the books denied to others.’ After reading what is happening with all the banning of books, your ending resonates.
I really hope to set them free… but in the meantime let us read them all.
Ha ha! I never looked at it that way before. The banners read books to be able to know if they recommend banning (unless they are magates who storm libraries because doofus has deemed it and gives orders.) Just like back in the day when they had to look at pornography to determine whether they believed it was obscene. I like some of the choice descriptors for the slimy ones. It will always boomerang on them.
Let it boomerang well.
Nice one
much♡love
It is amazing how words can put the Boo in people! Books have been a target ever since the printing press was invented! Well done.
Love your tribute to banned books. Well versed
Bravo, Bjorn, to your many ‘boos’. Very clever.
I love the sense of adventure and discovery reading the ‘taboo’ books offers – Jae
I love the sense of adventure and discovery that comes from reading these ‘tabooo’ books – jae
I love the sense of adventure and discovery these ‘taboo’ books offer – Jae (not sure if my comments are taking so apologies if there are repeats)
set our books free!
Haha – I love all the “boo” words you incorporated into your poem of boo(k)s nice hook on the prompt.
Well written Björn
Freedom of the press is a right…and responsibility too.
Love all your ‘BOOs!’ Björn!🥳
Yes! It would be a dream to own all the “so-called” banned books!
I am with you 100%! People can try to hide history but it won’t stay hidden forever! Books are one of the most influential things in our world and to ban them because you don’t agree with the content is completely ludicrous! I have a friend who is currently purchasing books only from one of the banned book lists, just so she has them!
YES!!! I love all the usage of the sounds from the word boo. It’s just fantastic and I agree with the sentiment of your poem. Just thank you so much.
Creative take.
Books are super cool.
Good to get in the mood to read some banned books, because they are the best sometimes. I enjoyed your poem! 🙂
The book burning began a while back, I fear.
I love this! Brilliant.
That hope of true freedom, again, is what keeps me going.
Such a creative use of boo as stem and word, yes, chilling poem.
