Saturnalia

Remember the uproar,
when dancing went wild
from ceiling to floor
with Cheshire smiles
high on wizardry fungus
twisting and leaping
in clamor and rumpus
and no-one was sleeping
cops came a’knocking
and sent us to lockup
it wasn’t too shocking
our Saturday booze-up.

Today Kim hosts the Quadrille at dVerse and the word is rumpus, and that made me think of a very wild party, and when I went looking for pictures it made me think of Saturnalia. I also asked ChatGPT to create a picture of a wild party and this is what I got.

  1. I love enjoyed the pace and rhyming of your Saturnalia, Björn, which evokes a Saturday booze-up, not that I’ve been on one of those in a very long time. I especially like the ‘Cheshire smiles’ and ‘wizardry fungus’.

  2. those were the days, uh

but i was always one for awkard situation avoidance, so i missed that kind of fun

    luv your quadrille

    much♡love

  3. Boy I have my share of these days:

    and no-one was sleeping
    cops came a’knocking
    and sent us to lockup
    it wasn’t too shocking

when I was much younger, of course. I like the last line because no one is shocked when a bunch of young men decide to booze-up and have a wild rumpus. Thank you for your poem.

  4. Lol. Too much vodka had me belly dancing on a table top. Next day at the mall a stranger walked up and complimented me on my dance. Then showed me the photos she had taken. OMG.
