From its burnished eye,
transfixed
I’m held,
kiln-forged to my manifesto
of mannerism & mood
still, in harmony with
shades of soot
sfumato ink washed
& embraced
in gentle bloom.

Today Melissa hosts dVerse Poetics with a selection of paintings by Georgia O’Keefe as well as a selection of words to use in our poem.

Wonderful ♥️
We chose the same painting, Björn! And I love that they are so different. I see you focused on the ‘burnished eye’, and I love the ‘shades of soot / sfumato ink washed’. You saw the bloom while I saw something else.
exactly…. which is why I love these prompts.
Me too!
Nice one, I also wrote of the iris
much💛love
Exquisitely gentle and so painted here.
Short but still impactful! I love “kiln-forged to my manifesto
of mannerism & mood”
and “with
shades of soot
sfumato ink washed
& embraced
in gentle bloom”
I was tempted by that image of ‘Black Iris’, as my ex-partner has had some dark experiences of eye surgery recently, now resolving at last.
I love what you did with it. Like Melissa I am taken away by
shades of soot
sfumato ink washed
& embraced
in gentle bloom
Thank you Bjorn!
I went through some eye-surgery a few years ago too… retinal detachement.
Hoping that your sight, your insight, and your delight are all undimmed…
Lovely poem.
The burnished eye set the mood to end with a gentle bloom. A juxtaposition of moods which I think O’Keefe intended in her painting.
The dark center really captured me… almost like a tunnel of love.
I think you had a very keen eye on this iris, pulling out some beautiful interpretations. I enjoyed the video too, complimenting the gray. Love that group as well.
I chose the same image, but went somewhere else.
Impressive images!
ah, bravo, bjorn! i loved what you did with this image ❤
A soothing painting and poem….
you express how the painting acts on the viewer. Bravo
O’Keeffe draws out many interpretations straddling the line between abstract and representational – great take Björn…
Beautiful poem, Bjorn!

What a beautiful, gentle verse complementing the painting.
We both picked this painting, and saw it differently. Nice work, Bjorn.
I love the ‘burnished eye’ more so – kiln forged – something about the power of heat.
