Equinox, if only

Returning daylight, now
today at vernal equinox
a day victorious
against the blindness of the night.

Imagine if, also rays of truth
could penetrate the twilight
spread by hate.

If spring could make it clear how much
we waste to be amused (or horrified).

What matters light for yet a hospital aflame?
What matters light behind a cloud of drones?
What matters light for starving children?

Still reflect what’s passed and hope
that on the other side
the warmth of truthful light
may once again be felt.

  1. Loving everything about this and most especially these words:”Imagine if, also rays of truthcould penetrate the twilightspread by hate.”

    AMEN to that!

  2. We had our warmest day of the year so far today, Björn, but I wasn’t able to go out for a walk, and could only enjoy it from the window. Yes, it was indeed a ‘day victorious against the blindness of the night’. Yes, we need rays of truth to ‘penetrate the twilight spread by hate’.

  3. The sharpness of your language is so exquisitely paired with the pain of what’s behind it, and the visual transformation that leaves the lingering light of not enough, of regret, of emptiness, of the wrong sustenance.

  4. So much to love here especially; “Imagine if, also rays of truth could penetrate the twilight spread by hate.” 💙💙

  5. If only – one can hope…sigh

    rays of truth
    could penetrate the twilight
    spread by hate.
