Many years ago we decided to follow the same path in the direction laid out by providence. We travel without a map and compass so at every crossroad we wait for a sign before deciding on a new course, but we always go on and will never return.
Sometimes we take a detour, sometimes a shortcut, but we are always together, enjoying our journey, over meadows and through forests.
For every camp there’s a meal, for every night there’s a lullaby. For suffering the muscle pain and blisters we have our laughter and sleep to dull any pain.
Somewhere beyond the ridges, maybe along the next river, maybe after another climb followed by a descent we will reach the shore where we may rest and wait a short while for the ship to carry us away.
What we started together we will finish together.

I love that you chose Orinoco Flow for your post, Björn, I also like the hiking theme, something I would have loved to have done, especially in a forest – but without muscle pain and blisters! You split the prompt words well, too.
The end of the text fitted so well with the refrain of Orinocco Flow I simply had to include it.
A journey that for all its twists and turns is governed by providence is a journey to be desired, especially for the companionship garnered. I love the penultimate paragraph that speaks so much hope at journey’s end.
I really wanted to write something positive from the darkness of the poem and the line.
For having no compass, they are doing well on their journey.
The journey is all that counts
I agree with Kim on the pairing of Orinoco flow with with hike.
Sail away, sail away
Safe travels.
One step at a time
It is the journey, yes, it is said, in some quarters…but what does that mean, exactly…the tender detail exemplified here shows just that…
Every day is a journey
I truly enjoyed this, the overall feeling and your use of the prompt line. It’s wonderful to have a great travel companion, isn’t it?
The best pilgremage is one does with a companion
A beautiful journey, Bjorn! The final line is perfect.
Thank you… great that you enjoyed it.
Wow! This is lovely
much♡love
Thank you so much
A wonderful story, Bjorn. I see some of your summer treks in this writing! Well done.
I love Enya and Orinoco Flow!
I like to do a bit of travelling every day.
That is great!
You describe life as traveling. I like that!
Indeed it is a journey with a beginning and an end.
Love this!
Thank you
Björn, I love how you weave Leonard Cohen’s lyrics into your piece—it adds such depth. Your journey feels so timeless and reflective. You really have a soft spot for Cohen, don’t you? 😊
Much love,
David
I do love his songs and his texts… they always leave me thinking.
The journey of togetherness can be wondrous even if there is pain and blisters. It’s a testament to the quest that keeps one moving forward on the trail.
We do it for the journey not the goal
This is beautiful, Bjorn! I love how they are travelling the journey together.

I love Leonard Cohen and I love your story, Björn. Very clever weaving of his words.
I love this, most especially the last line – to which I subscribe in my own way 🙂
