Sail away

Many years ago we decided to follow the same path in the direction laid out by providence. We travel without a map and compass so at every crossroad we wait for a sign before deciding on a new course, but we always go on and will never return.

Sometimes we take a detour, sometimes a shortcut, but we are always together, enjoying our journey, over meadows and through forests.

For every camp there’s a meal, for every night there’s a lullaby. For suffering the muscle pain and blisters we have our laughter and sleep to dull any pain.

Somewhere beyond the ridges, maybe along the next river, maybe after another climb followed by a descent we will reach the shore where we may rest and wait a short while for the ship to carry us away.

What we started together we will finish together.

  1. I love that you chose Orinoco Flow for your post, Björn, I also like the hiking theme, something I would have loved to have done, especially in a forest – but without muscle pain and blisters! You split the prompt words well, too.

  2. A journey that for all its twists and turns is governed by providence is a journey to be desired, especially for the companionship garnered. I love the penultimate paragraph that speaks so much hope at journey’s end.

  3. Björn, I love how you weave Leonard Cohen’s lyrics into your piece—it adds such depth. Your journey feels so timeless and reflective. You really have a soft spot for Cohen, don’t you? 😊

    Much love,

    David

  4. The journey of togetherness can be wondrous even if there is pain and blisters. It’s a testament to the quest that keeps one moving forward on the trail.
