Wishing for the right,
a princess
swiping right,
and chat
and chat
to later meeting IRL,
to wine and dine
to spend the night
repeat
repeat
repeat and never ghost
repeat
to eggplant peach
and later after princess
, you, is turned to queen
I’ll be king for you
without the app installed.
Today Sannaa hosts dVerse with a prompt to write about love, my choice was to do one about love in the digital age. I have never tried any dating apps, but to me it is very clear that the business model must be that it is never about finding your forever love since you will remove your profile and delete the app if you find someone.

“repeat
to eggplant peach”
I laughed out loud.🍆🍑
Ha… had fun with that one…
This is expertly wrought, Bjorn! I think you captured the crux of the matter here. Yes, it is never about finding forever love. Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 💙💙
I realize it was the opposite of your romantic one… but alas this is what it is in digital age.
Yes, this is how it is in the digital age!
you took a real swipe at modern Valentines in this excellent poem but right there at the end, you raised some hope
Yup… I have heard about people who found love only after getting out of the dating game.
like women who become pregnant after adopting a child
I love the way you tell it like it is, uninstalled indeed, Björn. I’ve never even looked at a dating app, and have no idea about the way it works. I prefer to meet people in real life. But your poem made me chuckle.
I have not used it either, but I know enough people who have done it…
I don’t think I know anyone who met on a dating app. Must be my age!
Sounds about right. Even though meeting a random stranger the old-fashioned way can have its dangers, these “serial daters” on apps are much more risky.
And Love was already having a hard time keeping our attention without the zipless swipe.
Why, you sly dog, Bjorn!

Is just so depressing somehow…seems like so much is being lost, even if I am not directly concerned it all just gets one down…the language..I suppose I can handle but that one swipe and you’re gone…try the next…
Aye, it’s a strange old world today with the dating scene.
Hi Bjorn, this is very clever. Well done.
I an obv not moving in the right circles Björn – I had to look up eggplant peach…
🙂
Very clever, Bjorn! I loved it!

i smiled that you no longer need rhe app. You got the princess
much♡love
ya. dating in the new age, in old age, is … no bueno ~
You nailed it. Not sure I should use that term ;-P
I can’t personally imagine using an app to find love. Maybe because I am very happily married. I have to acknowledge there is a role though because my brother and some friends have met their partners this way and have been happy ever after. I seem to be a bit of a dinosaur.
Beyond cool and clever Bjorn! See you tomorrow [assuming I roll out of bed early enough.]
I shudder at the thought of love in the digital age! You captured it so well in all its absurdity. But love is still there outside the apps.
A few still meet digitally… but it takes time I think
Oh, I have seen friends’ kids do that. But usually after the first meeting it fizzles out.
