Safe with me?

It’s cold tonight, the moonlight’s cruel
while hoarfrost tingle stars are bright
in graveyard’s shadows lurk the ghouls
to maim and murder when time’s right.
So maiden dear, don’t be a fool;
the moonlight’s cruel, it’s cold tonight.

Inside with me, it’s safe my dear
I’ll lock the doors and hide the key
with me alone, forget your fears
my arms are strong you cannot flee
please do not scream, I’ll dry your tears
It’s safe my dear, inside with me.

  1. That got dark quickly! I love how you use the form so cleverly to tune our senses equally to the comfort offered and then the harm threatened.

  2. So dark and gothic, maybe your sparrowlet should be called a ravenlet, Björn! I love the creepy first person narrator, with his hypnotic tone.  I especially like the ‘hoarfrost tingle stars’.

  3. Gothic indeed Björn – what a choice between the restless dead outside and the undead inside…

  4. It wasn’t the cold that made me tingle, it was the second stanza of your beautifully constructed Sparrowlet.
