Guided by moon-sickle silver
we seek in the darkness a river
of dreams leading from dusk
into twilight of dawn, but struck
by fears of creature and crime
we’re locked in this circle of time
where forever together (apart)
we’re prisoned in colour as art.

Today Lilian hosts dVerse poetics with art by Catrin Welz-Stein. We have been given four pieces of art to chose from and my choice was the wonderful moon-ship above.

This is exquisitely drawn, Bjorn! I resonate with “locked in this circle of time.” It does seem like that at times 💙💙
Indeed… a nightmare indeed.
What a sparkling circle of time, Björn! I’m happy to be ‘prisoned in colour as art’.
I think it would be a little bit boring in the long run.
Cannot imagine being locked in the circle of time, together yet apart. Love the rhyming verses about seeking the river of dreams and yet being captives in the moon-ship.
This time it was the rhymes that helped me to find that path.
Such a wonderful poem for this image!
“we’re locked in this circle of time
where forever together (apart)
we’re prisoned in colour as art.”
These words I especially can see with this image. Nightmare or dream? I think nightmare given the use of the word “sickle” in the first line?
Thank you… it felt time to play with rhymes.
Hmm, interesting sentiment, I agree we fail dreams at our peril, taking its color for art — a fatal loss of dimension from the sidhe that dreams.
We may be trapped inside the dreams and never face reality
A very good take on the picture. Amazing how we get stuck in our situations in life and seem to have no escape.
There is always that risk… dreams are dangerous things… and being trapped inside paradise will be a nightmare in itself.
You are right about that!
Being locked in the circle of time and prisoned in colour as art sound like terrifying images to me. This poem can be interpreted in so many ways and that’s why it’s great.
I would say that follow your dreams may be really dangerous.
This was the first of the four images to jump out at me Björn but I couldn’t quite pin it down so (thoughts too literal) so I went elsewhere but you have navigated with the perfect ambiguity of metaphor…
I thought it would be the first picture on everyone’s mind, but if we interpret it too literally it will be hard to do.
A fascinating poem, bravo!
Thank you… the first line came to me quite quickly, but then I let the rhyme take me to where it led me.
Oh my, Bjorn ~~ this is gorgeous poetry. I am one who takes pleasure in stepping outside the circle.
Thank you, I feared that it would be too simple with its rhymes.
Rhymes done this well can never seem simple.
Bravo!!! Nice one
much♡love
Thank you so much
Beautifully written. I especially loved your last line Björn
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome
That is gorgeous.
Thank you
A profound rhyming poem, Björn. 🙂
I’m happy it came out that way, my intention was something I wrote as a simple rhyming exercise.
I feel the moon transporting here as a kind of lunacy, where the seekers are trapped in limbo between dusk and dawn.
Well written. A river of dreams would set many free.

Really good phrases and thought provoking
