Spring Girl Magic

The sun is an oyster with turmeric hands,
as the midmorning spring un-ribbon her hair
to let tresses, as water, trickle through sand
and merge with the restless waves of the sea,
as apple-bloom laughter fills orchard and land
the spring jumps and dances barefoot for grass
to be green, so butterflies, bees understand
proposals of flowers, how winter’s despair
rests humbled to light and whispered commands.

Today it is time for Open Link Night at dVerse with Mish hosting. I have taken the opportunity to write a Magic 9 poem which i missed last week coming back from the US too tired for anything else than going to bed.

  1. That’s a magic Magic 9, Björn, I love the opening lines and the image of

tresses trickling through sand and merging with the restless waves of the sea. I hope you’re feeling less tired and getting back to normal.

  2. Wonderful how you described her hair communing with nature. Also this is quite powerful:

    winter’s despair
    rests humbled

Deft use of the Magic 9.

  3. Some lovely images in this Björn. I especially loved:

“The sun is an oyster with turmeric hands”

“apple-bloom laughter” (I presume you meant laughter not laugher?)

    “…bees understand
    proposals of flowers”

    🙂

  4. This is a delightful read. I absolutely love the direct metaphors and imagery of “The sun is an oyster with turmeric hands” and “apple-bloom laughter fills orchard”.

  5. A musing nine is a bouquet from and thus for the muses of inspired springtime arousal. Amen. Hope you’ve recovered from our Yankee debacle.

  6. This magic 9 is pure magic .. I want to let my hair down, dance thru dandelions, drink sparkling wine, smell Spring … all of it, everything. You inspired all of this.

  7. I really liked the Magic 9 poetry form Björn and yours is as good an example of it as one could wish for…

  8. I love the mix of imagery from land, sea and air in this beguiling poem – “restless waves of the sea”; “orchard and land”; “butterflies, bees understand”. All of the elements create a joyful celebration of spring.

  9. This is a beautiful poem, Bjorn, that sounds so nicely when read out loud. For me, it has something Tolkienesque in it, a way of poetic speaking I enjoy. This was my favourite part :”the spring jumps and dances barefoot for grass
to be green, so butterflies, bees understand”

  10. What a great write, Bjorn! I especially liked –

    ‘so butterflies, bees understand
    proposals of flowers’

  11. I love the rhythm and rhyme of your poem, plus it tastes good on the tongue. Pretty good for a tired guy! Hope you got some good rest!

  12. I love the image generated to go along with your fantastic poem. I especially love :

“The sun is an oyster with turmeric hands,
as the midmorning spring un-ribbon her hair”
