First half of March
still ice follies, we
listen for love calls
of daffodil sentinels
giving sun salutes
and silver smiles,
for soon-to-be spring,
when tête-á-tête
together, embraced
we’ll sing, like
we did … before.
Today Merril hosts dVerse Poetics, where should utilize at least three words from a list of daffodil names. I did this little simple poem of spring joys to come, currently we have cold and sunny and I enjoy the sun with its light.

This is so good, Björn. I like how it slips from daffodils to a romance–and with the hint that it ended. I love
“we
listen for love calls
of daffodil sentinels . . .”
It is a wonderful time of the year I think…
It is!
I’d have never guessed so many daffodil names were included here. It flows seamlessly.👏🏻
I thought a while to try to include every one of them… 🙂
ATTENTION!! I salute you. Amazing how you built a poem around the words! How clever you are.
Oh thank you so much
sing when Spring arrives a good reason to
much♡love
Yes… I will remember to do that.
What’s not to love about spring and daffodils?!
Nothing — they are lovely
Wonderful.
Thank you
Nicely done.
Thanks
Makes me want a real Spring, we don’t have much here in South Texas. You did well with the prompts, I also used them, as first sentence words.
..
I have spent some time in really warm and sunny weather… but it just drew me crazy… I love the variation.
I love the way you captured the return of spring, Björn, and the way we await it like a surprise even though it doesn’t change that much. I especially enjoyed the ‘love calls of daffodil sentinels giving sun salutes and silver smiles’.
There were some really wonderful words to use….
Björne, the daffodil names were fabulous! I enjoyed how you created a romantic spin to your poem. It celebrates spring in all the right ways.
The names helped a lot, and spring felt near when I wrote the poem
Daffodils come later in your part of the world. This is a great image…
daffodil sentinels
giving sun salutes
and silver smiles,
for soon-to-be spring,
Daffodils are a still a month away… we call them easter-lillies…
How nice. Whatever works for you. :>)
There’s nothing like the longing for spring! Ours has sprung and it’s wonderful 🙂
The only green thing here is that of envy.
Patience 🙂
Did it end or is it the return of spring. that is being evoked..
Spring will spring soon.
This poem is so gorgeous and makes me love my favourite time of year even more 🌼
I do love that time, but we are still waiting…
I do not think there is anything that can make me love spring any more.
🌼💛🌼
We are all listening for those love calls. In the meantime, silver smiles…(K)
I love the repeated ‘s’ sounds in this.
