I crave my shadow most which is forwhy … why
your scent of bloom and subtle innuendos … does
leave my beating heart alone, my offspring … spring
dead, unborn, and with myself ensconced … once
beside this tarn at peace — but for you no gain … again
I give, no claim I have on you, an empty coffer … offer
, and for sustenance just water bread and grits … its
my world of self no season has, is evergreen … green
while with my pond and me I lull unclothed. … clothes

John William Waterhouse
Hello, I am late to the bar hosted by Laura where we write poems inspired by echo (or Echo) at dVerse. I was inspired be the poem Narcissus and Echo by Fred Chappell. As Echo I used a question from Neruda’s book of questions, which I recon would be something she would say.
Being the International women’s day I think we should remember all women being silenced and only be allowed to echo what men says.

“I crave my shadow”–such a chilling, and apt, image. (K)
”while with my pond and me I lull unclothed”
Just me and my pond, a lovely place to be.
You have illustrated beautifully how Echo, despite echoing Narcissus’s words, still has something to say for herself ❤️
well done!!!
Much♡love
“my world of self no season”–so true for many women now and throughout history.
Love this 🤍
A very nice take on the prompt. I love your dual poem.
Lovely echo poem, Björn!
International Women’s Day is also my birthday and I thoroughly endorse your plea – and a great poem too, BJÖRN…
Really enjoyed this, Bjorn, especially how you italicized the last words in each line.
Brilliant response to the prompt!
