Soulless survivor

Sinfully yawning, you smiled;
while stretching; catlike
you tenderly tickled
and touching my hunger
unabashed you bruised
my backbone and cool.

Now mangled I mourn
our mishaps, the loss
of my confidence, courage
to a cravenly fervour
I’m a soulless survivor
to salacious musings.

Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse with 44 words using the word touch. I thought also I would give a hint at what my Thursday MTB will be about.

  1. Lovely use of sibilance and alliteration in your quadrille, Björn, and I love the way you describe the smile while stretching and the catlike tender tickle. Unabashed is one of my favourite words.

  2. Went back and read these words aloud….

    “the loss
    of my confidence, courage
    to a cravenly fervour
    I’m a soulless survivor
    to salacious musings.”

    They’re sinfully delicious…with or without a yawn 🙂

  3. Quite a packed wording in such a small form, for me, is masterful. The poem made me think of how, perhaps, the subjects of our writing think / feel when we write about them, raw and honest.

  4. There are poems you enjoy for their rhythm and poems you enjoy for the poet’s choice of words. Yours have both. Beautifully penned.
