From the deepest bramble tangle
there’s a breaking as from bones
and flesh that’s torn away and mangled.
Deep in fall when from the stones
the dead unravel; claiming warmth
from veins of living bodies, hearts
to change, absorb, transform
into themselves, replacement bodyparts.
Today it is Quadrille time at dVerse with Lillian hosting. The word is fall and I think it would fit a Halloween time poem. As usual I think a scary poem often turn out kind of funny so I went with AI for my picture. The prompt I used was: “Create a spooky picture with monsters coming from a dark wood“, and I think it fitted taking even more of the fear from the poem.

Well…you’ve gone to the darkest realms for the poem….thank goodness the illustration is a bit lighter and made me smile. 🙂 Halloween is upon us!
I think som horror is so much over the top is it becomse amusing… 🙂
“from the stones
the dead unravel;”
Something about this part speaks to me. I love the rhythm in this. Very good.
Sometimes working with rhymes it just helps to get it in place.
After I recovered from reading the poem (yikes!), I was able to appreciate the AI art. Cute and creepy-crawly 🙂
Glad AI helped you to smile… the first time I tried to prompt the AI it came back saying that it was against the policies.
Ah! This is deliciously spooky, Bjorn! ❤️❤️ I love the illustration 😀 it’s perfect as tomorrow is Halloween! 🎃
The illustration made the pome funny I think.
Nice and creepy for Halloween Eve, Björn! I like the rhyming, the rhythm, especially of ‘deepest bramble tangle’.
It was fun to play with rhymes for once… a bit playing
Replacement body parts–yikes!
The image is funny. 😊
pleasantly spooky i enjoyed both the poem and the AI art
I’m afraid I can’t take all that zombie flesh-eating monster stuff seriously. Whoever started that silliness was light years away from the point of the celebration . Your illustration sums up how I feel about it too 🙂
This poem seemed to demand me read it aloud. It had such a lovely rhythm, and the picture definetly fits it well.
I like how you merged Halloween theme with the prompt.
Oh wow this was creepy…in a good way. Awesome halloween poem!
the image of the dead unraveling from stones … fits the halloween theme perfectly!
Such a deft balance of amazing and gruesomeness
“Deep in fall when from the stones
the dead unravel; ”

Thank you David
This is an inspired, perfectly paired with the spooky season Quadrille! Thoroughly enjoyed it, Bjorn.
Just dark enough, I love the line – unravel, a coming to life, albeit the dead, feeding on life. The irony.
