Poet’s passing

Fingers tracing
moon-words, seeing sense
in star-song,
in the nebulae, ink-spilled onto
vellum, parchment, onto paper;
and as silence settles,
he listens for the voice
of a poet’s passing
into darkness
moving pages past his hands
into dreams, as he rests his head
again.

Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse, the word today is paper, which made me think of that aged librarian.

  1. Oh, I really love this one. I love moon-words, too, and the tracing of parchment to paper.

It’s funny, but I was reading poetry early this morning that reminds me of the tone of this–and I used nebulae in on something I wrote earlier today.

  2. “The voice of a poet’s passing into darkness”…wow, great wordsmithing. I do wonder though, after each of us is gone, how much of our work, our words, will resurface and survive? That’s why poetry communities are so precious, right?

  3. Paper as inspiration for thought about the aged librarian is an awesome train of thought! I love the narrative in your poem and the crisp imagery. ❤

  4. Nice one. The dreamers, the poets and the paper.

Thanks for dropping by to read mine

    Much💜love
