Afterward, we shiver, tremble
skin to skin, we’re crumbled
softly, gently disassembled
knotted we doze tightly tangled
Afterward, we gasp, we sob
forget the supple foreplay
for that eagerness of throbs
and thrusts and now we pay
in ache, in discombobulation
submerged in perspiration

Paul Gauguin
Today we are writing Quadrilles with Merril at dVerse and the word is shiver. I played around with a thesaurus and rhyme-lexicon and this is where it led me.

such a hot topic for the shiver prompt! the rhymes and tempo brought it to a sensational end
I second that!
Peeping Tom Terrific, BR. Thanks for sharing.
I had a feeling this is the direction you’d take. 😀
I particularly like:
“Afterward, we shiver, tremble
skin to skin, we’re crumbled
softly, gently disassembled”
THAT is not holding back! Well…we Brits always say love was invented in Sweden, and in France quite a few films have been made about Swedish women coming camping in summer in France, even classic films…it has become a real stereotype….of course Bergman would beg to differ….this was stylish and art-realistique….and felt classical without the stereotyping…
A place for memories was created for just such interludes. I cling to them in the cold. Exquisite intimacy you’ve woven into 44 words.
You explored the erotic side of love, which is perfectly suited to the prompt word, as you demonstrate here!
so much love in just 44 words. this is where couples make memories.
So sensual. Whew! Amazing…I can see, feel, and hear this scene. Whew!
Sensuality at its finest Bjorn!
Nice one Björn💓
Luv the art by Gauguin as well
Much love..
So passionate! Love the sizzling shivering skin to skin play.
sounds like you explored far more than a book and a lexicon … hot stuff Bjorn!
Well, the thesaurus was put to good use here. A steamy quadrille!
Sounds like some hot shivering going on!
We always pay!
You “do” the passionnate scenes so well, Bjorn! This is a sizzler.
Very erotic. Nicely done.
Delightful. I especially like,
skin to skin, we’re crumbled
softly, gently disassembled
Thanks for taking my mind off work. I am ready for a glass of wine now.
There may be aches and discombobulation but at least they’re still enjoying their passion!
Hmmm…so this poem isn’t about working out??? 😉
Oh, I’d almost forgotten those shivers, and the words you tangle up to get us to that moment of ecstasy. Wonderful.
Wow! Gorgeous, powerful, lovely. I’m glad I can say I know the feeling.

Sizzling chemistry in your words, Björn! Gorgeous write.
Truly gorgeous. And how sensual!
There’s a subtle ambivalence to submerged in perspiration, but yet, given to it come what may.
Such passion in this one, and well worth the ache and discombobulation
Love! so complicated and full. (K)
‘we’re crumbled softly, gently disassembled’ ❤
So many fun word choices here!
Lovely!
Woo-hoo! Steamy. Love the painting you chose for this.
