You might have been a carrot (unless the rabbit had you for dinner)

You, magician pulled
a carrot
from your chapeau-clack
and boastfully declared
that the flawless rabbit that
you wished to see is not
a carrot
but a lustful apparition
of a parsnip
just pretending he’s
something other than
my lonesome pipe.

The treachery of images (This is not a pipe) by Rene Magritte

A bit of surrealistic poetry written in haste for Linda’s prompt at dVerse.

  1. You had me at/ not a carrot, but a lustful apparition of a parsnip? Too much fun. I went dark with mine.
