A million pillows

This white space:

is only big enough to hold:
a single heartbeat
a noiseless feather falling
a single careless word
and the weight of million pillows
suffocating from regret.

Eternity of a moment by Giorgio de Chirico

A poem for the Paul’s prompt at toads.

  1. There is so much emotion packed in this tight little poem, Bjorn! “the weight of million pillows suffocating from regret”… wow!

  2. Regret is a difficult emotion to handle for sure. I especially like your lines “(this white space) is only big enough to hold: a single heartbeat” 🙂

  3. I like the contrast, the sharpness – so well placed, between a noiseless falling feather, and a single sharp [careless] word … just stunning!

and the ending is just so mournful, almost bittersweet in the observation ~ and the choice of the word phrase “suffocating from” is absolutely beyond a cliché – you’ve managed to so artfully pair this in a way that is soulful Bjorn.

    gorgeous and evocative!
