I’ve found in you: my songs, my wells of force,
you are the breeze and in the way the sand
feels warm at dawn; your skin can set the coarse
for satin nights when I can drown with hands
of silver filigree entangled deep
in richest softness of your golden mane.
You’re bold and brave, the reason I can’t sleep
You are the sudden storm and gentle rain
that whispers from the forest emerald
You are the setting sun, the stars and moon;
my love please take me to your netherworld,
and close together like a pair of spoons
come let us merge, our love is not benign
we are like oaks and let our roots entwine.
For dVerse Open Link hosted by Grace I present my tenth installment of my heroic sonnet crown. Somehow there is a narrative embedded in this series, and I hope I can bring it to a close before the end of the month.
Previous sonnets: Bluebells, The tear of tears, Before the monsters, When we had built a nest, Let’s mend the bridges, Your icicles, Our highway through the sky, The emptiness of brine and Of carnivores and feeble frills.

the love is definitely being rekindled!
fantastic opening, Bjorn ~
The whole sonnet lovely Bjorn, but I’m particularly struck by the description, “in the way the sand/ feels warm at dawn;” This is so comfortable and such a fresh image. Really well done.
“You are the setting sun, the stars and moon;
my love please take me to your netherworld” – this part is absolutely adorable, I wish it was said to me.
the sudden storm and gentle rain…i love the contradictions in this… makes it so much more exciting than a too even canvas
You have become the prince of sonnets, brother; really impressive how the form gets less intrusive with each entry. I really dig the sensual sheen of this one, & like Clauda, I like the lines /you are the sudden storm and gentle rain/that whispers from the forest emerald/.
Ow Bjorn, sing this to me and I will be yours forever. Simply marvelous! 🙂
A beautiful sonnet Bjorn ~ I specially admire the opening lines ~ Very passionate write ~ 🙂
What a resplendent and glorious sonnet. One can feel the love and passion ringing out in this. Quite a trip from the “knell of bluebells” to “come let us merge, our love is not benign”.
Ooh. A beautiful, romantic and sensuous write. I loved the ending. 🙂
Sing these beautiful words to me too Björn and I will light up with happiness. A wonderful sonnet.

Pieces, such as this, are the reminders and reasons we stay in season with the more gentle parts of our souls…terribly beautiful.
So lovely!
The first line was very luring and set the mood…it pulls you in. The poem flows as smoothly as the love you speak of.
This is a good one, Bjorn. I love love as you have portrayed it….oaks with roots entwined. Lovely imagery.
This is a wonderful sonnet, Björn, probably my favorite of yours. I agree with misunderstood the first line is a great opening. “You’re bold and brave, the reason I can’t sleep / You are the sudden storm and gentle rain” – these are my favorite lines though. Hope to read more as more develops.
A beautiful expression of love.
So beautiful – really love the final couplet.
The sudden storm and gentle rain.
So lavish with love.
To undertake this task is heroism in the extreme, and to achieve it with such panache and artistry is the work of a true poet. I am in awe. Not far to go now.
Gorgeous.
Wonderfully done, as if summer is calling the spring .

This was magical Bjorn. “You are the sudden storm and gentle rain
that whispers from the forest emerald” I loved the blend of your words, of the sensuous love and the elemental feel you lent.
A beautiful and passionate poem!
Ah.. the sensate and emotional delight of the
love of human being.. a greater connection
than this the world has likely
never known
or
felt..:)
“…and close together like a pair of spoons.” This is so romantic, sensual. Your passion is showing, and it’s a great view from here! Amy
I am sorry, Bjørn, but here are to many images. The poem becomes a list of values attributed to the poor woman, and any affection is hidden by that reifying done. Also “spoons” does not rhyme with “moon”. And when you perform the line “my love please take me to your netherworld”, I believe the poem is a joke.
I love the little whispers of mirth (and close together like a pair of spoons) you smoothly inject into your sonnets. They are just so wonderfully fresh.
the world always needs to celebrate heroes
Very classic use of the sonnet form to express love, and yet with a lot of freshness of imagery there.
I was just wondering about that ‘our love is not benign’ though – it felt a bit surprising and jarred with the rest of the poem’s context (to me, at least).
This is a beautiful love song…stormy and passionate! I like “your skin can set the course for satin nights”.
So lovely…I like the honesty in all the contradictions, that is real love.
Descriptive of deep love and caring. Well done, Bjorn. 🙂 — Suzanne

Absolutely stunning poetry, Bjorn. It seems like the definition of a sonnet. The metaphors are so perfect.
