We used to go to a cabin sometimes in the summer.
But I would imagine the winter even with the wood stove going it would have been cold. I hear the cabin burn down and the land got developed…

“beard of icicles” – perfect. There is something olden about the notion of a cabin, isn’t there (especially a mountain cabin) . . . at least, as an abstract image.

When the sun shines on the snow in spring you get those icicle and drops that keep falling.
