Carpe Diem Haiku – Vladivostok

Reaching the Pacific Ocean I ponder. Is this really the end, or have I changed so much by the time travelling making this end is my beginning? The lead-grey sea is a border to cross; I sit down, faced with the choice of going on or return again. In reality it may not matter since I will face the rest of my life changed no matter what I choose. Let every day be the same for you my friend. Let every day be a day of pondering and see what the choices for tomorrow may be.

  1. I have always loved the name Vladivostok.. for me, it seems so far away and reminiscent of a different age of cossacks and czars. You have captured a mood here, very contemplative.

  2. Wonderful haibun (correct?)…our choices change us along the steely river flowing to the sea…feels like the edge of the world.
