Carpe Diem Haiku – Shiba Sonome’s “an oak deep in the woods”

Shiba Sonome composed the following haiku:

some blossoms there are
that nobody sees—
an oak deep in the woods

To me this works as a symbol of might that we might not observe at first. The oak to me is a mighty tree, yet it can dominate like a lion or tiger does.

veiled by grass
mighty huntress lures –
hungry tigress

  3. This is great Bjorn — you can even hear the grass hissing around her in all the alliteration, which really *works* here. Gives it an air of menace — nicely done!
