behind the tavern –
the lonely glass of stale beer
buzz from tipsy wasps
An effort to write a haiku in a classical haiku, it should contain all the classical element. I wanted to capture it with early autumn kigo. And in the spirit (!sic) of Basho’s frog haiku include sound, location and that instantaneous feeling of present. I know it can be read a little bit disrespectful but it’s not my intention.

i am very familiar…ha
Awesome response on Basho’s famous haiku Björn… this one has the potential beauty to become a famous haiku. Chapeau!
Nothing disrespectful about it — it’s part of nature. 🙂
Not sure what they’re like where you live, but here in the US the wasps can get a bit aggressive when fall arrives. Watch out for those tipsy wasps!
Exactly the same here.
drunk or not
wasps are nasty critters

Bjorn, I’ve never seen a tipsy wasp, but I don’t want to be near any wasp, tipsy or not. Well written. 🙂 —Susan
I like the last line 🙂
Ha! this is great…love that punch line:)
We have a few different wasps here. A new one popped up last year – a Cicada Killer.

Disrespectful intent??? Unless one thought of W.A.S.P. as a derogatory term. I would not have looked for such if you hadn’t mentioned anything. I would have only thought of the insect.
Glad you liked the ‘long shadow’.
i can feel it in my bones ! all the elements of a traditional haiku !
i like ” the lonely glass ” of stale beer ! a melancholic feeling lingers ….!
Behind the tavern…yes, that’ s the place where real life happens 😉
