Truth is to often becoming a doctrine, like Khalil Gibran says “Many a doctrine is like a window pane. We see truth through it, but it divides us from truth”. But even that might deceive us from seeing the truth, a cold winter morning when my windows are covered with the beauty of ice crystal, I forget what’s outside. And snowdrift gradually transforms the outside to massive whiteness. That’s when I realize that the only truth I have is what I have inside my cabin. The bare essentials, meaning that truth is relative, sometimes on a mountaintop I can gather impressions from far away. But this is not such a day, I think – listening to embers crackling and I know it will be a long day.

Wonderfully written haibun Björn …. great response on ‘truth’ … will the truth come true? I don’t think so … we all have our own truth the only way to find the truth is to go on a quest deep inside ourselves. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.
Bjorn, Just reading about snow drifts and seeing the Ice-covered window brought back remembrances of how cold it can get. 🙂 —Susan
Yes, what ever truth still remaining can be obliterated without one realizing it. Nicely Bjorn!

I love your haiku of truth through the window pane.
A haibun here? Golden truth – knowing perhaps understanding our own limitations. And being prepared while snow covers the tracks of what was…
A lovely prosimetric work. I’ve often thought that perfect truth is like trying to nail jelly to a wall. Both the prose and haiku, here, speak to the perspective and/or veiled and/or transformative qualities inherent in this “absolute”.
This is the first time I’ve come across a haibun – thank you, once again, for the introduction.
