A cure for Humpty-Dumpty’s lure – for dVerse

Our dashboard Jesus cackle vividly
unscrewing bottled geyser-tears champagne
as B2 bombers cry shamefacedly
we burn the angel’s wings in peace campaigns

bereft of dignity the horse-faced man
release ignition to another bomb
peony petals for a force-graced nance
who perfume-tenderly will smother dad

we cross the sea on rental-Buick wings
and play backgammon with our icicles
so please my friends: meet broomstick-Gwyn
whose curses melt electric bicycles

so let us mix a salmagundi cure
remove forever Humpty-Dumpty’s lure

From Denslow's Humpty Dumpty

Today at dVerse MTB, Claudia encourage us to use vivid and unexpected contrasts. To make the contrast to my words larger I have put it into a sonnet with slanted rhymes (my new addiction).

  1. ha. reminds me a bit of corso…which is really cool…love the dashboard jesus upfront..bomb droppers…and we all know humpty’s ultimate fate….

  2. The imagery of this poem is definitely powerful and first rate, but I must take you to task for posting the disturbing egg pornography pic…

Humpty either needs to get to the gym or invest in a pair of pants

    Great poetry 😉

  3. broomstick-Gwyn
whose curses melt electric bicycles…. haha… i think i don’t wanna meet her… though i’m sometimes a bit p… with electric bicycles like when they overtake you hill-up…ha…smiles.. cool take björn

  4. Creative phrases in a sonnet form ~ The first one specially struck me with: unscrewing bottled geyser-tears champagne
    as B2 bombers cry shamefacedly

    Maybe there’s no cure 🙂

  5. Writing poetry is mostly fun, except when it isn’t–but today the fun you had with your unusual sonnet is infectious. I love an intense foray into the land of Nonsense; loved your line /as B52 bombers cry shamefacedly/; much smiling over here, brother.

  6. Yes, see, now Humpty Dumpty – I never quite trusted him… wanting the king’s horses and their men to put him back together… He shouldn’t have sat on the wall in the first place!

  7. “bereft of dignity the horse-faced man
release ignition to another bomb”….i don’t know why the lines conjure up an image of the slithery cold blooded reptile holding an apple in its mouth…slant rhymes in the sonnet form…wowzers!!
