Again I pine from lonesome nights
when perfume and your underwear remains
why does it always end in bitter fights?
I’m sure it was that bitch and her campaign
or maybe it’s her awful pungent smell
that’s left below ungracefully to tell
My first effort to write to this prompt. Answer to the prompt “did Grace say that, too?”

Makes me want to know more about the dynamic of this couple and the 3rd party! Also loved the image.
Ah.. I think that it might be an interesting basement… 🙂
Yeah, I want more. It’s amazing how strong of a sense smell is. It can evoke things from years earlier.
Yes the smell never tell lies
Interesting piece, Bjorn. 🙂 —Susan
Thank you Susan
Good to see you here, Bjorn! Loved your take.
Yes.. need to try a new prompt every now and then… 🙂
I like the progression of emotions, from pining to blaming. And I am always impressed when someone can do rhyme so…gracefully.
Ha.. yes rhyming and meter are my assets 🙂
That Lautrec image is a perfect companion for your piece.
Evocative and powerful. I also want to know more!
I agree it’s good to see your work here
Smell is the most honest sense.
I sense longing and yearning , even when you don’t want to.
I’ll agree that certain scents can bring everything back, welcome or not..and set your memory on fire.
what an intriguing picture.
Smell can be so powerful. And I too love the image.
if it always ends in bitter fights, then it’s not meant to be. a 3rd party doesn’t create the problem, only shines a light on the inadequacies of the relationship… great piece.
When there are 3 in a relationship you are going to have bitter fights. Nice powerful imagery.
I am feeling unsettled by this, but I think that is what you were going for? I like the stark imagery of this.
The sense of smell evokes the most powerful emotions, I think. That’s what brings this to life for me…both the perfume and the “awful smell”… I admire your skill with the rhyme and verse, too.
This sounds like a fascinating longer story waiting to happen. Very nice!
I think being able to rhyme within what you need to say is such a talent.
Relations! When will we humans have peace with them?
A powerful piece Björn – well done.
Ah, yes. Three is an olfactory crowd as well : ) Great poem, Björn!
What a complicated relationship you’ve outlined for us! Only you could be so gracefully ungraceful, Bjorn. 🙂 I am thrilled to see you here, by the way. Welcome to the gargleblaster – thanks for linking up!
“when perfume and your underwear remains” is such a beautifully minimalist way to set the scene.
I’m left wondering about that pungent smell. This is a tantalising glimpse of such a big story.
Graceful, Bjorn. Nice to see you around here.
Reminds me of the Mad Men threesome episode this season. When I knew it was all going downhill. Wonderfully expressed, Bjorn!
Ack! Yes, I would think that lingering smell had something to do with it. Great take on the prompt.
