moribund in sepulcher bracken

I’m petrified behind my flaccid carapace
and billow nauseously in patchouli air
while swine-snouted suffragettes enact
to purify my everlasting valediction
with bombastic threnodies that fill my veins
I’m lost in moribund and fluid turbulence
in pneumatic aggregation, I search in vain
for devastating loneliness of carrion birds
sleeping needle-pricked in sepulcher bracken

Just a little piece I wrote on my long flight yesterday. I link it to Toads

  1. “just a little piece I wrote…”
WHAT a vocabulary you have, and what delightful imagery you are able to convey with it!

  2. Hmm. I can see funereal fantasy occurring in the metal enclosure of modern flight, and Brave New World might just hasten that along. But what a vision! To escape everlasting words of bombast, wouldst thou willingly be carrion or the carrion bird?

  3. This is a piece of high contrast the patchouli scent vying with the swine snouts, the moribund against the everlasting valediction. I especially liked the way you wound it up in the last two lines.

  4. WOW! Love the “swine-snouted suffragettes” – your verbiage outdoes itself splendidly in this “little poem” Hee hee. Impressive!

  5. This ought to be Death Metal lyrics, Bjorn–I love the ringing and dancing of the vocabulary–every word used both appropriately, and with great effect–also just fun to read out loud.

  6. ha. your use of vocabulary in this is outstanding and there is a nice dance to your words….there is def a shadow within the piece…i like joys thought of it being a death metal piece…ha…

  7. Wonderful, wonderful use of vocabulary! “[S]wine-snouted suffragettes” is absolutely delightful. Well, the ‘connective tissue’ of that entire line is inspired. I heartily bow to this one,
