The battlefields are filled with tanks, and chimneys from the factories spew out its soot. Generals order our authors to praise the progress of the state. Passively we watch song contests in HD quality, songs of peace and love that no-one understand. Flags and banners always red so we cannot the see the blood-stains from generations of soldiers we have sacrificed for yet more oil-fields we are consuming as plastic copies of art that we cannot understand. But underneath there is a rot, a decay that settled in the core of Yggdrasil.
bitter winds –
in the swaying canopy
birds are silent

I tried to follow Cathy’s advice of show don’t tell, at the same time I wanted to write a haibun.

Really a good one Bjorn. >KB
Thank you.. haibun is a great way to capture your thougts
You did a great job Björn… I am aware of the difficulties with the prompts for today, but … it still is and will be a struggle/battle to write haiku with given prompts … 🙂
I do not really know what a haibun is but you paint a very vivid picture. Thanks. K.
Great how you incorporate myth!
very nice and I do believe you did the showing with the haiku portion
not only the birds but we too are silent in “bitter wind”
Good piece, Bjorn. There’s a good warning for mankind in it.
Yes…I too wrote a haibun…but went back with an additional single haiku. Your haibun is strong and long in truth. May we (as humans) yet find peace within the whole rainbow and fulfill our roles as peaceful guardians.
That packed a punch! Wonderful x
You did a great job of showing, and with your images come feelings of despair. Very emotive
Poets speak those ominous forebodings we all feel and don’t voice. Well done.
