at first you said you’d never leave
we speak of cancer as we thieve
but beastly few release from truth
and cheat in beading to your youth
become a channel for those lies
that branch our souls – your sweat-stained prize

Powerful Bjorn.
I can’t help but wonder if a sweat-stained prize is worth striving for.
If the Branch Could Speak
Impressive, Bjorn!
The ending made me smile, even though I’m not sure it was meant to do so. 🙂 Your sweat-stained prize is perfect.
Interesting poem, but to be honest I’m not sure I understood it completely.
Thought-provoking. You tuck a lot into a few lines.
but beastly few release from truth

A lot of questions building up! The vulnerability affecting youth is a loss even before the chance to start. Just have to be careful. Nicely Bjorn!

“those lies that branch our souls”…..what a wonderful line!
sweet-stained prize… it lingers in the ear.
Nice work!
The pictire was hard to make out what is it? Sorry feeling half blind
Ah.. it’s the whore of Babylon by Albrecht Dürer… click on it and it should enlarge…
Ah ok thank you I’m on my phone so doesn’t work well. Tomorrow I shall take a better look 🙂
Tight and string work again, Bjorn – always fun to visit, you keep me on my toes – there is always something with a difference here , a kick… Very nice… With Best Wishes scott http://www.scotthastie.com
Beautiful rhyming couplets Bjorn ~ That ending came with a kick, smiles ~
The lies feel as burden for many…~ short and to the core.
Wonderfully concise piece, Bjorn.

Love the rhyme and your close is perfect.
Yeah, I like the way you rhymed this.
Bjorn, I see the power of compactness here, the plea to branch together.
This is beautiful Bjorn. Bravo!
Not left but merely treading the path before you.
This rings of a Blake poem for me.. the pithy statements presented in tight verse. Here lies certain wisdom for the reader.
Thank you so much – as a matter of fact I had Blake in mind… 🙂 very well spotted
Aha…the whore of Babylon…shades of Revelations the Reformation and its continuing toxic spume, 500 years later.
I so enjoy the change of fonts here as each couplet brings enlightenment and deeper meaning to the next!
