Canceled trains – for dVerse

see empty sky of canceled trains
tomorrow’s work – an added stress
we passengers in growing pains
see empty sky of canceled trains
there’s no one here to take complaints
our public transport don’t impress
see empty sky of canceled trains
tomorrow’s work – an added stress

Tonight at 3pm EST, Shanyn wants us to write about the rhythm of traveling. As we’re currently waiting for delayed and cancelled trains, it fits perfectly. Not much rhythm in waiting.

  1. oy, would not be a whole lot of fun to be stuck and have to wait…its a lot more prevalent here to be a delay or cancellation of flight…and i have been there are few times myself….ugh….

  2. Reindeer on the track, like the moose in Canada, like the ghost bison herds across the Great Prairie; your stylish poem does justice to the prompt; good sense of place.

  3. They can’t say everywhere that there are reindeer on the tracks. Here it might be elephants or buffaloes. There are sometimes even buffaloes on the streets in the city where we live. I even saw a couple of camels brought from up north. You never know. 🙂 Good poem and perfect picture to go with it.

  4. Argh! You have my sympathies and empathy! I had a better journey back from my holiday today, but I can see the train I should have been on if I was at work, loitering just outside my train station… I am grateful not to have been on it…

  5. The frustration of a cancelled train, and yet in the waiting there can be a rhythm as well…thanks for joining in as you journey!

  6. I’d almost guess you have had to deal with Stockholm’s commuter trains? Love the rhythm of this, it echos the sound of the tracks to me. Great poem!

  7. The photo ties in well with the verses. Feels like a whimsical, bemused take on an obviously frustrating situation. Great write. Not sure if I would be in good enough spirits to write something as good as this.

  8. I love the way you seem to have mirrored the rhythm of a rolling train in these words… and the empty sky imagery is wonderful.
