see empty sky of canceled trains
tomorrow’s work – an added stress
we passengers in growing pains
see empty sky of canceled trains
there’s no one here to take complaints
our public transport don’t impress
see empty sky of canceled trains
tomorrow’s work – an added stress

Tonight at 3pm EST, Shanyn wants us to write about the rhythm of traveling. As we’re currently waiting for delayed and cancelled trains, it fits perfectly. Not much rhythm in waiting.

I have known Bjorn for quite a while and thought his piece today a worthy poem to share. >KB
Thank you KA 🙂 spotty coverage up in northern Sweden – will do my best doing the streak of reading
The photograph of empty tracks fits perfectly with your poem. Hope your train comes in soon!!
We’re on our way…
oy, would not be a whole lot of fun to be stuck and have to wait…its a lot more prevalent here to be a delay or cancellation of flight…and i have been there are few times myself….ugh….
oh and welcome home….smiles.
Some sporadic coverage… Still up in the far north. Another hour of delay because there were reindeer on the track.
Reindeer on the track, like the moose in Canada, like the ghost bison herds across the Great Prairie; your stylish poem does justice to the prompt; good sense of place.
The train-ride from the north is normally a 16 hour trip – might be longer today..
They can’t say everywhere that there are reindeer on the tracks. Here it might be elephants or buffaloes. There are sometimes even buffaloes on the streets in the city where we live. I even saw a couple of camels brought from up north. You never know. 🙂 Good poem and perfect picture to go with it.
I think an elephant on the rails would be a risk to the train.. The rain-deer is a little bit more lightweight 🙂
I can only imagine how disheartening that can be.
Argh! You have my sympathies and empathy! I had a better journey back from my holiday today, but I can see the train I should have been on if I was at work, loitering just outside my train station… I am grateful not to have been on it…
ugh….canceled trains suck… hope they will soon be up and running again
I’m so sorry for your waiting. I hope you have a good book to read.
what a bummer… hope the train is off and running by now… smiles
I hate cancelled train rides as the wait is unbearable, so I hear you ~
Your poem makes the best of an unpleasant situation…reindeer?!
The rhythm of dis-appoint-ment is similar to that of go go go …
Interesting usage of repetition Bjorn – smiles.
oh… loved the train approach… a wonderful place to transition
I love it! What a great way to pass the time waiting for late and cancelled trains. Cheers
The frustration of a cancelled train, and yet in the waiting there can be a rhythm as well…thanks for joining in as you journey!
Maybe not much rhythm in waiting, but this piece has plenty. Waiting can be a poet’s inspiration.
hmmm still life moves on and trains too!!
so bad if the train doesnt come ……….. even more bad if it gets conceled…….. nice poem
I’d almost guess you have had to deal with Stockholm’s commuter trains? Love the rhythm of this, it echos the sound of the tracks to me. Great poem!
The photo ties in well with the verses. Feels like a whimsical, bemused take on an obviously frustrating situation. Great write. Not sure if I would be in good enough spirits to write something as good as this.
Certainly feel the motion of a train in your poem. Hope one comes along soon.
here, it’s just delay from gridlock on the freeways, since the trains in southern California are mostly for show ~
I love the way you seem to have mirrored the rhythm of a rolling train in these words… and the empty sky imagery is wonderful.
Really clever use of form to create the rhythm, Bjorn. Ugh for the delays.
This could translate as a bereft lover as well as a frustrated commuter! Nice work.
This one is fun! it brings me memories of my days living in London. 🙂
Canceled train sucks…very cool.
As a one time commuter, it was the bane of my life when the train was cancelled. Well said Bjorn, I got it clearly.
frustrated!
Love this Bjorn.
Canceled trains! Agh! But you use time cleverly. Thanks. k .
