I listen as the sunrays play
in March when days are growing long
on harpsichord a honeyed song
I watch the trees that gently sway
like waving arms they reach the sky
cerulean silk that please my eye
as swallows fly in spring ballet
they dance ‘mong cotton candy clouds
undress our nature’s somber shroud
I sip the southern wind’s bouquet
a taste of orchard’s in the air
the spring has flowers in her hair
to colorize the winter’s gray
beneath the lilies burst in bloom
and gone is winter’s sooty gloom
I listen as the sunsrays play
I watch the trees that gently sway
as swallows fly in spring ballet
I sip the southern wind’s bouquet
to colorize the winter’s gray

Spring by Marc Chagal
Kerry, has us to write a Constanza today at imaginary gardens with real toads. Very nice and fun form, that I never tried before.

I love the spring’s arrival with flowers & lilies blooming ~ Hopefully the southern wind is coming soon ~ Happy weekend ~
Bjorn – you painted beautifully our day today. BUT! tomorrow snow and cold.
Lovely words to warm the spirit…sipping and watching for spring with flowers in her hair…
I love how ‘they dance ‘mong cotton candy clouds’ ~ so nice image. ~ Spring is close…:)
This has a wonderful light-hearted rhythm, Bjorn, aided by your choice of the -ay rhyme. I love your imagery of Spring – each stanza has something to offer.
Oh, you have done a great job. Imagery and feeling, all in unison with your beautiful words.
love the honeyed song as much as every delicate Spring thing in this.
The coming of spring is so much anticipated. Lovely words of yearnings, Bjorn!

Bjorn, it looks like you brought in Spring with that poem.

Love this depiction of spring . . . the constanza is a hard one, I’m still staring at a blank page but you made it look so easy.
waiting impatiently for this moment to arrive. soon!
you’ve joyfully colored the winter’s gray….beautiful, sprightly rhythm
flowing so spontaneously…
I love linking this rich imagery with one of Chagall’s Pan figures!
Wow! you nailed the form but also what great use of the senses – I think you managed to trigger al 6 on mine 🙂
Such a beautiful song of spring
