so wicked and burned my candlestump
we waxed and waned together
your dancing flames of youthfullness
has left me now forever
this darkness and in loneliness
in grey an dreary weather
without your cheerful burning heat
i’m tied in mournful tethers
Today Victoria want us to write object poetry at dVerse. My poem wiche is slightly lighthearted (smiles) is about a candlestump.. We burn quite a lot of candles here in Sweden.

I’m never disappointed when I visit here for words or vivid lovely poems. I especially enjoyed the ‘we waxed and waned’..it was so deliciously pretty.
Thank you Kirsten you know I love to play with rhymes…
You do burn a lot of candles, don’t you? I like how people in Sweden seem to always light a candle on the dining-room table whenever there is a meal – a very sweet habit. No wonder you feel lost without them.
Yes burning candles is very important… Hopefully we have new candles for tomorrow evening…
Vivid description… and how the blowing of the candle light can be mournful… Beautiful write.
Thank you Amol.. sometimes I just go where the rhymes lead me…
I love the flow of this, Bjorn, and the image in words and photo. I like candles, too.
A friday evening we usually have 10-15 burning candles in our living room…
A happy scene–I guess you’ll need to stock up for more winter or longer nights!
AH.. I hope there are more candles somewhere.
This made me want to dig out my candles and light them.
Do.. in summer they don’t make a lot of sense.
The rhyme schemes fit in so cleverly, and what a terrific object to choose to write about; the pic is nice too, reminding us that our life, like the candle’s, burns brightly only for so long before the flames is snuffed, & a brief whiff of smoke signals the passing.
Indeed my idea of writing of that little candle stump..
nice… i like the fragile look of this one… we burn quite a lot of candles as well… esp. if my elder daughter is around… ikea candles actually..ha..smiles…love me those dancing flames…
Yes indeed.. a trip to buy candles is needed every now and then.. they burn quite nicely…
tied in mourning tetthers….great last line giving it emotional weight….candles def bring on reminiescence to me….remembering those that have passed….
In Sweden we burn candles every time always… we … but we are quite crazy about candles…
I think we have the same weather today – in grey an dreary weather ~
Enjoyed this out Bjorn ~
Thank you Grace…
Enjoyed the photo and poem, Bjorn. Yes, sad when those candles burn down. Symbolic of life, I think. But, ha, it looks like it has a few good years in it yet. (Smiles)
Years? no this we have burnt down in a few weeks… 🙂
Oh my….it would take me much longer than that to burn a candle.
Love this whether a candle-lover (which I indeed am) or not.
My little candle is flickering away now, giving freely of its vanilla and coconut aromas.
Cheers Björn.

ah.. yes aroma candle is nice too..
like the double meaning of wax in this piece. Very clever!
Nice, the way you brought the metaphor in.
I have a house full of candles – I get many as gifts but usually only light them at Christmas time. Perhaps I will light one as I write as you do. Your work always seems inspired. Perhaps that will be the same for me..I could use it these days.
So clever. Love the comparison of spent candle to love and the last line is brilliant.
Nice. I like the interplay with the heat of a lover. I love to burn candles.
Truly – so much about the objects, that we never take a notice of.
True enough….and I love the last line..(and candles)
There is something sad about a candle that’s all the way burned…down…and out. But so fun to start a new fresh one. Love your take on the prompt, Bjorn.
Very creative response to the prompt. I love it. Peace, Linda
Ow nice!
We use a lot of candles too, so this had special resonance for me. Nicely done!
This is one of my favorite poems from you. Something so magic in the burning of a candle-it brings so many emotions for people. Your metaphors are delicious.
I love having lots of candles around to warm the atmosphere.
the dancing flame can be quite entrancing…my problem is the shadow it casts always looks like my inner self laughing at me…I should probably focus more on the flame like you. a beautiful piece.
from the heart! so much it embodies the candle slick
