Carpe Diem Haiku – Kumadaniji

a single coin
mingling with the melting snow
in beggar’s cup

in beggar’s cup
when compassion’s lacking
emptiness

  1. This is profound. With the winter we’re having here they say the number of homeless is exceedingly high. Because of the dangers in the shelters they rather be on the streets.

  2. Reminds me of the Red Kettles during the holidays.
While some shelters require one to sit through sermons, others do not.
One shelter makes sure that at least two or three people are awake throughout the night (volunteers) so that those taken in can feel their belongings are safe.
