Making a haiku from the waka by Gotokudaji Sadajin
looking
where the hototogisu
had cried,
only remaining
the moon of dawn
My haiku becomes… seasonword check, cutting word check, 575 … and a certain objectivity check…
small cuckoo’s cry
dissipates in morning haze –
light from waning moon

light of dawn at the monastery by Shitao

Wonderfully composed haiku Björn… what a joy to read and re-read this haiku.
so i’m guessing the hototogisu is a bird? very nice haiku and as i told Pirate, beginning to see how the Waka to haiku should work. very challenging…you did wonderful! ☺
Oh,this is so beautiful-loved your Haiku more than the waka,Bjorn 😛
Thank you so much.. I found that one particularly challenging.
Yes,it definitely was but am glad we got an opportunity to try our hands at it:-)
Nicely done,Bjorn. 🙂
