Jolly Roger is a superior
when compared to the
tourist class hotel located
opposite of Disneyland
and one block from
the Anaheim convention
in the department
of criminology for business
or personal use
Jolly Roger is captained
and distinguished
by a belligerent.
by the spirit of democracy
in time of war
from privateering
tempered by absolute
scientific and moral
piracy laws
greater than man
The illegal distribution
is authorized –
an uncommon topic
in that
the latter
is piracy
piracy is
the other kinds of
research going on,
but piracy is reproduction
of Adobe software applications
or fonts
I will tend the bar tonight at dVerse Open Link. Please join me there at 3 PM EST. My poem was made using googlism and some cutting and pasting. Interesting what Piracy really is or not.

piracy? takes one to know one… oh, the Tom Hanks movie Captain Phillips is well worth watching ~
Pirates are so many things.. but at the end of the the day it’s just stealing…
ha. nice hearken back to the googlism prompt…i did it with my poetry club at school….my students had a trip with it…piracy….while the old kind of piracy has a certain romanticism to it…the stealing of the work of others def does not…
Ah.. would be nice to have a poetry club … 🙂
I like the progression of this poem, Bjorn. I wasn’t sure where you were going with the beginning of the poem, but by the end the message was VERY clear! Piracy HAS changed form over the years, but still in a way has stayed the same.
ha – i’ve been staying in anaheim close to disney…haven’t seen a pirate though.. i think we’ve romantisized pirates…it was always bad as it is now stealing other people’s stuff…ha…very cool to do another googlism poem björn
Nice use of googlisms Björn! My students find it incredible when I tell them that not everyone downloads films from the Internet.
Ah piracy. So widespread in the “googleverse.” Who has time to catch them all?
Loved the use of Googlisms, which I figured out when I Googled Jolly Roger.
Fun and clever. Well done.
Love the way this develops, Bjorn. A really interesting topic to write about, & love how you progressed it from the stereotype to the modern. A great way to make people think. Excellent.
I have never heard of Jolly Roger. I assume some find him to be a jolly good fellow. I believe pirates would not be if not invited.
As a fella who grew up 5 minutes away from Disneyland, this caught me from the start. Reminded me of a video called Rip! A Remixer’s Manifesto – your take on piracy is great.
I’m sure Disney tried to trademark the Jolly Roger after their little pirate movie came out.
Oh yes, very clever take on evolution of the pirate.
Very clever, Bjorn. Yes, piracy is more rampant than ever I suppose. An aside, Disneyland was a big part of my growing up down in that area…I remember when it first opened. Good Lord, I am getting up there, heh?
Cleverly done.
Wouldn’t it be great if all such thieves identified themselves with such a flag as they arrived!
It is a very unique and special treatment of a subject compared to what I have read in the form of poetry. Wonderful.
Sorry, my attention was drawn to the pagophagia in your tweets. Cool!
Piracy in the technical world is probably nearly as difficult to catch as the seafaring pirates in their glory days. Cleverly done Bjorn!
Quite Poignant, whether seafaring or .com faring…pirates are all scallywags. Nicely done!
Piracy the bane of hard and tedious work but conveniently ‘swiped’. Integrity is sidelined. Great thoughts Bjorn!
Hank
THis is really cool the way you link piracy to commercialism and so many things.
Very clever! …something to bring into the light…xo
Arrr! (my imitation of a pirate…) So interesting how many meanings a word can have, and how they morph into new meanings all the time–excellent poem 🙂
Very well done. I love the journey of this piece. 🙂
I’m feeling rather stupid this morning. The poem was unclear to me – so I must read it again!
It is a little bit random… since it’s based on googlism there is a certain amount of randomness that sometimes exist in found poetry
All is now clear: thanks for the explanation.
It doesn’t feel random – you’ve combined things very cleverly! Well done – and crystal clear on the meaning, I think!
Now you have me so curious about googlism and that particular prompt….but I sure get the gist and think you have aptly deconstructed piracy here. Also, the pic of the pirate makes Johnny Depp’s character look like a nice-guy. OK, I am now off to Google googlism!
Clever idea, loved the outcome
At least there is “a spirit of democracy”… smiles…
Like the way you start with ” the department
of criminology for business
or personal use”
and end back where you started
“piracy is reproduction
of Adobe software applications
or fonts”–both examples of piracy in the business place. Only problem is, I miss the romantic depictions of swashbuckling Johnny-Depp types with their beauteous broads.
Bjorn, it seems you had some fun again with googlism..I have to say I do enjoy a good pirate tale..har!
I would like to be a pirate. The problem is- this is not possible for technophobes- so we fall into the category of reluctant saints. All these magical devices iphones ipads ipods whatever will remain mysteries to the few luddites remaining on the planet.
You know I think people are not very consistent on these issues–something you highlight here– on the one hand, everyone is against piracy of their stuff, but then they are also very against crackdowns on piracy! I’m sure you know what I mean–I like that you are free to be so idiosyncratic! And you work so hard. Thanks for your inspiration. k.
I agree.. and it’s also to sometimes the common man against the powerful state of corporation that add to the romanticism.. a little bit like Robin Hood…
Well..I guess since my financial independence came young my opinion is tempered by that..
I wish there were no requirements for money in the world so people could simply share information ..and love for greater human heights..
I own nothing.. I learned that when i lived dead in nothingness… the abyss of hell..
The heaven and bliss..is simply feeling in my estimation now…
But alas..reality is reality..and yeah..dog eat dog..is still dog eat dog..in the real world most unfortunately..i think..
But again..anything I write is simply for others as really there is no me anyway..that i truly see….th@ISalliknowNOW….as am on again….
