Today at Carpe Diem we write haiku inspired by Southard’s masterpiece.
a patter of rain …
the lily-pad undulates
on widening rings

lotus pond by Qi Baishi
see the lotus-bloom
as it with utmost grace sways
for the gentle rain

it sways ‘For” the rain, not in spite of it.
that is deliciously gorgeous. 🙂
Glad you noticed.. I kept changing that word back and forth quite a few time before selecting for
the creative process is something I love (I call it my walks to the ladies room..that’s where I gather my words and move them around)
it was the right choice…:)
“for” is good….”in” might also work………opie
Yes that was my other alternative…
Such delicate words that sway in the most beautiful wording of your imagination.
Thank you 😉
You’re welcome sir.
P.S say do you think they’ll let me post my blog onto their openlinknight? Link…
Perfect imagery so I can’t see why you cant 😉
I will then. 🙂
glorious! I also like the ink painting selected to represent this piece. Nice!
Ah! Lovely. Beautiful haiku.
Here, I am the lotus … I feel it, I sense it, I am it. Bjorn … This is spectacular. And I must tell you something embarrassing. I spent 6 months (quite ill) studying haiku and writing one per day. But I did not know who Southard was! Now I do, thank you for teaching me something.
Wonderfully composed respons on Southard’s haiku Bjorn. Really nice woodblock by the way.
I vote for “for.” That sexy little lotus is trying to seduce the rain with her dance! 😉
Undulating Grasses
you make the rain a welcome presence
nice pair Bjorn
feels cooling and gentle…all so beautiful.
I would call this a sinuous, sensuous and, yes, sensual, haiku!
