I like the parallel here. I commented on Carpe Diem, too. I’m not really sure you can use the word “sheaf” with straw, since sheaf refers to bundles of cereal grain. Straw comes in bundles or bales. This haiku would work equally well if you used wheat instead of straw and that does come in sheaves.
Ah.. yes I trust that judgement…
The good thing is the discovery. I didn’t know that until I just looked it up right now. I love learning things from the haiku we all write 🙂

I love the ‘binds his hope’ to the bundles. Nicely said. I like that one a lot.
