in late autumn
farmer binds his hope
to wheat bundles

Beautiful set Bjorn … I like the use of the synonym sheaf … well written …
Sheaf is a great word 🙂
absolute beauty
Thank you 🙂
I like the parallel here. I commented on Carpe Diem, too. I’m not really sure you can use the word “sheaf” with straw, since sheaf refers to bundles of cereal grain. Straw comes in bundles or bales. This haiku would work equally well if you used wheat instead of straw and that does come in sheaves.
Ah.. yes I trust that judgement…
The good thing is the discovery. I didn’t know that until I just looked it up right now. I love learning things from the haiku we all write 🙂
farmers everywhere had such a hard and uncertain life…
Beautiful haiku, Bjorn. I liked the second one… emotional and heart-felt.
Awesome! Haiku…you’ve capture the beauty of images so well my friend. 🙂
P.S When you get a chance read my new flarf poem. It will make you laugh hard. 🙂
lovely haiku ~ well penned and with a bit of wit ~ carol ^_^
When mice eat, men don’t. Simple. Profound. 😉
Eight Bundles
I love the ‘binds his hope’ to the bundles. Nicely said. I like that one a lot.
“Binds his hope” is a very nice line. Well – penned.
Nice pair Bjorn. Mind you, I’ve never met a farmer who confessed to having a bundle 😉
To bind your hope to a wheat bundle seems like risky business.
No Barley Straw
This is amazingly awesome Bjorn-I just fell in love with both your haiku!
I read this on my phone and guess I thought I had commented. First one is my favorite but both perfect.
Great set…I am fond of the second one but both are perfect responses to the prompt..
Peace
Siggi
love this. ♥
