Alone, in tether bound
forgotten upon loft
a crown among the hounds
his fur is sleek and soft
now eyes speak sorrows
moans, laments the loss
of gone tomorrows
and his dying boss

Bjorn, you did such a great job with this. I’m a sucker for poems about dogs and cats.>KB
Thank you.. I have this picture in my head of a dog lamenting the death of his master.
This is beautifully sad.
Thank you .
How sad! Dogs are so emotionally tied to their owners that the loss can be devastating.
I know… and that were the tether brought me.
I actually laughed at the end of this. The “dying boss” bit gave me a fit of the giggles. I know, I need to get out more!
But master doesnt rhyme
True dat.
I’m not usually one for poetry, but I love this. Ah dogs, they get me every time.
you want to take that puppy in your arms and stroke his coat.
(now I wish that my dog thought I was the boss….although he did take good care of me on pregnancy bed rest…he was loyal and true)
such a sad but telling tale Bjorn. 🙂
That is very profound. Very good.
I saw a movie recently on Hallmark about a dog that faithfully awaited its master outside of class at a college. In the story the owner died and the dog remained at his usual spot awaiting his master. Loyalty of a dog knows no bounds. I like this so much.
Some sweet rhymes in there, Björn!
Oh, how sad! The painting complements it well. *sniff, sniff*
This is lovely. It says so much about a loyal dog. Nice job.
such a touching poem. Well done!
You had to go there, didn’t you?! So sweet and dear. I too have a few sniffles after reading. Lovely as always, Björn.
I love the dog-cat you and pc did….i loved this although how terribly sad it made me…i often worry about my dog regarding my death.
oh poor things. I feel for the dying boss as well. It’s nice they had each other at the end though.
This is gorgeous! Love the line “a crown among the hounds” – beautiful and poignant.
Beautiful!
(And I don’t say that because I was inspired by the mourning too)
how sad and beautiful all at the same time
We grew up with dogs. They are fiercely loyal.
So well done…I really like this!
Such a different take
First of all, you are a fabulous poet and it makes me very envious. Secondly, this was beautifully sad and my heart aches for him.
This is adorable. Dogs – faithful, faithful creatures.
Sweet, B.
Oh no,this broke ,my heart!Old age is such a trying time for many-even for animals :-(Beautiful piece of writing Bjorn-as always:-)
Oh, man. The sounds in here are SPECTACULAR. And the tone is perfect. Well done.
Beautifully melancholy. Perfection.
Love the picture and the poem together. Nice match.
Sigh. Such power words for a grieving and loyal canine. *clutches heart*.
This is a sharp tug on every dog-owner’s heartstrings. The loyalty is unmatched.
Thank you for linking up. Voting is now active so don’t forget to come back!
Oh that’s sad. Very well woven.
So, so sad. Reminds me of a movie I saw some years ago, starring Richard Gere as a man witha loyal dog/ friend. Each day his dog walked him to the train station and met him at the end of each day. One day the man died at work. For many years, through all kinds of weather, his dog waited for him to return. I’ll send you the name of the film.
Beautiful writing, Bjorn.

The movie was “Hachi”, based on a true story from Japan…
Oh this sounds so sweet… 🙂 I’m already sobbing…
Ah! The poor dog! So often forgotten. Good one!
