Carpe Diem Haiku prompt is peace within. The text below is from Wikipedia, and I thought it would create a nice haibun. Just maybe poor Zhuangzi was far from peace within for such a dream.
“Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn’t know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi. But he didn’t know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi. Between Zhuangzi and a butterfly there must be some distinction! This is called the Transformation of Things.”
Zhuangzi flutters
in his dream, a butterfly
seeking peace within
seeking peace within
the butterfly can dream
he is Zhuangzi

Such a thought-provoking haibun. Wonderful!
The man and butterfly dreams – their thoughts bind them as one. Great haiku finish.
beautiful and mystifying…..definitely ‘food for thot’
whether Zhuangzi dreamed he was the butterfly or the butterfly dreamed he was Zhuangzi, there was a dream! Nice one 🙂
