Carpe Diem Special of Kikaku’s “a white crane from Fukei”

At Carpe Diem write an inspired haiku from this one by Kikaku:

how I wish to call
a white crane from Fukei,
but for this cold rain

Don’t miss to visit Kristjaan’s wonderful page on the background to this haiku. I’m travelling and will be going back tonight.

mourning wasting
listening to labored breath
leaves like crane in fall

  1. Nicely written haiku. It’s a scenery which I can see right now here on the ward were I am at work. A very ill patient with labored breath. Her family would have like to stay, but that breath made them very anxious and blocked their mourning proces. So she is now alone on her ward room and I go very often look at her. The same breath every time, maybe it’s a bit flatter then earlier this nightshift.
Sorry, I was on a roll with this comment. A well done haiku inspired on the one by Kikaku. Thank you Bjorn for sharing.
