Cerulean skies are lost to me
vacation’s gone, I’m back to work
now only sombre clouds I see
cerulean skies are lost to me
without my pay I can’t be free
so now I changed to office clerk
cerulean skies are lost to me
vacation’s gone, I’m back to work

Back at work I wrote a little triolet. I will be travelling today, and will late for the dVerse open link opening time 3 PM EST. Hope to find someone at the bar anyway.

  1. oy…i hear you björn… still having a bit of my holidays left but back to work soon enough… even though i love my work, just today i thought that if i wouldn’t work, i probably would cook and write and sew all day…ha… and maybe i would open up a small café with home-cooked meals…smiles… all the best for the start into work again and enjoy cali… wishing you a safe flight…

  2. oh those first days back after being away can be brutal, even if you love your work…the freedom we had ever so briefly can seem so far away….if i did not work, i would def own a bookshop…smiles…

  3. I think most people can relate to this, even if we love our work it is the fact that we’d always want to be some where (under cerulean skies). Gave me a big smile this poem, thanks for sharing.

  4. Oh, the brutal work!! But, Bjorn you still have cerulean ink in your pen to write such wonderful verse!! That sure is a bonus!!

  5. I think what you have expressed here is a universal lament, Bjorn. I have never heard anyone say “I am just so happy my vacation is over and at last I can return to work.” LOL. Safe travels to California.

  6. it can be quite a shock when vacation’s over, but you’ll get back into the groove soon, I’m sure.

  7. The form works so well here…and I know this feeling well. We enjoy those blue skies when we can, and look forward to them again when we cannot.

  8. Ah the burden of the practical matters.
    Dreams ala El Condor Pasa.
Take consolation: sometimes even practical matters can be undertaken beneath cerulean skies.
    Cheers!

  9. The refrain makes me sad for you. When I worked, it always seemed like I was only working for when I could afford the rare vacation. I’m free now. Free as long as Brian stays alive. Doing what you love does help though. There were times in my life when I thought I was living my dream… Glad you are back in the writing world though, she says selfishly.

  10. So glad to see that is a “wiki” photo (what a nightmare). Cerulean is a blue dreamed more often than lived… but put a little aside each week and you will see it again. 🙂

  11. That repetition in your brief but effective poem…underscores your pain…But cerulean skies will come again, no doubt, Bjorn 🙂

  12. Oh BR – I have just returned from a holiday up North (photos on post about Daintree) I am out of work at present – but you brought me back to earth with a thud 🙂 thank you..I think 🙂

  13. Sigh… I know the feeling of the office desk looking back at you after a long vacation. So glad I don’t have to go through that anymore 😉 enjoyed reading this one…

  14. I never liked vacation a work-aholilc was I…even working holidays for the fun I saw in work…when I could no longer work I missed it like hell…took me so long to realize it was hell in effect…illusions are scary things so scary…but never the less a beautiful job can definitely be a vacation in itself…
